The Cabinet is open once more!
Cabineteers!
The words you’ve been waiting to hear: the Cabinet is open once more!
Hey, what have you been up to for the last two years or so? I know what you haven’t been up to: attending Cabinets of Wonders. Why? Because there haven’t been any - like that’s an excuse - and because the Cabinet of Wonders, with its galaxy of stars gathering from hither and yon, its cast of thousands, and its willful disregard for social distancing, was quite possibly the worst, the most unwieldy show to attempt during lockdown. We considered a Zoom this and a Virtual that - but our hearts weren’t in it. Why? Because you wouldn’t have been there. As always, the wonder of the Cabinet is being in the room. Ladies and gentlemen, you are the stars. And this has meant that we’ve had to put our 100th show on ice for two years - insane! A century of Cabinets.
Check out this page of Cabinets and performers Past. How many shows were you at? What do you remember? (I personally remember very little, so I am asking out of interest.)
Though we’ve been dark, as it were, the lights have been on, the wine improving with age. We may have a new webpage, a new logo, even a new theme tune, but the song remains the same. And, though I am not yet at liberty to reveal quite who will be performing at the 100th Cabinet, you know you can trust me when I say….THERE WILL BE PERFORMERS. And they’ll be amazing surprises, and one of them is, of course, Eugene Mirman.
And please don’t forget: City Winery is now in a whole different place. Don’t go to the old one.
As Akhenaten once said in about 1350 BC: "The lips of the wise are as the doors of a cabinet; no sooner are they opened, but treasures are poured out before thee.” See you on March 20th. The Cabinet is vaccinated and boostered: you be the same.
